Legislative Assembly receives first nomination for the Prime Minister Designate

The Office of the Interim Speaker of the Legislative Assembly has received the first nomination for the Prime Minister designate.
The nomination was submitted by the Minister of Finance and National Planning and Tongatapu 5 representative to Parliament – Hon. Dr. Pohiva Tu’i’onetoa.
The nomination remains unknown and will be revealed on the day of the meeting of all elected representatives to elect the Prime Minister Designate.
The date and time of the meeting will be officially announced after the close of nominations.
This follows the Interim Speaker of Parliament Rt. Hon. Lord Tangi of Vaonukonuka, issued invitations on Friday to all Elected Representatives to submit nominations for the post.
The acceptance of nominations will be closed on Thursday December 14th 2017.
A nomination must be submitted by an Elected Representative to the Legislative Assembly and it have to be duly seconded by two other Elected Representatives.
