16 Days of Activism Campaign concluded on Sunday

The 16 days of activism aiming at eliminating the gender based violence was concluded with a special program on Sunday.
The campaign was launched on November 23rd with many different programs and other activities to raise awareness on the elimination of gender based violence in the country.
The programs include marking the International Day for Elimination of Violence against Women known as White Ribbon Day.
The 16 days campaign also marked World Aids Day and including the launching of the first Tonga Leitis Association website, programs such as the Kaliloa – Youth Leadership campaign, the launching of a free legal aid centre for victims and survivors of gender based violence, among other programs and activities as well.
The program concluded with a choral event on Sunday December 10th which was also the World Human Rights Day.
‘Eleni Mone from the Family Free of Violence Project says the success of this 16 days campaign has resulted in more people being aware of and willing to take part in the programs for the elimination of gender based violence.
She says despite the fact they they have concluded the campaign but many other projects will still continue.
This 16 days of Activism is an international program intended for the international community to work together in combating violence against women.
