The Carmelite Monastery Project marked the completion of Phase I yesterday.

The completion of Phase I of the Carmelite Monastery project was marked in a special programme yesterday at Laumanuhina ‘i Moana at Fahefa.
Vakautapola Vi a delegate of Lord Ve’ehala, the estate holder of Fahefa – marked the completion of Phase I of the project, opening the monastery in which the ground breaking ceremony was held in March early this year.
In his speech, Vakautapola Vi, highlighted the importance of this project to Lord Ve’ehala and the people of Fahefa.
The program continued with the blessing of the monastery by the Bishop of the Catholic Diocese of Tonga and Niue – His Emminence Soane Patita Cardinal Mafi, followed by a thanksgiving mass, then concluded with a luncheon.
Special guests at this program was a delegation from the Samoa Charity for the Carmelites Foundation, who also donated almost 1 milion Samoan Tala on behalf of the people of Samoa and the Samoa Charity for the Carmelites Foundation, to the Catholic Church in Tonga who will present it to the Carmelites Monastery.
The Carmelite Monastery was first established in Tonga on 19th March 2011.
