The reconstruction project towards homes in Ha’apai that were badly devastated by Cyclone Ian in 2014 is still on hold.
Contacts have been made to the government officials for a comment regarding the matter but to no avail.
The former Governor of Ha’apai – Mo’ale Finau says, the reconstruction project for the newest 75 houses were on hold last year because there was a need for improvement in the line of duties among related stakeholders.
Radio Tonga’s Stringer on the island – Moimoi Fakahua says, the houses are yet to be completed such as installing the power lines to each household, building of bathrooms and water tanks.
The local carpenters are dissatisfied with the arrangements as they are yet to be paid.
The reconstruction works toward homes in Ha’apai were expected to be completed by June this year.
The first phase of the project has been completed but the second phase which consists of 75 houses are yet to be completed.
