Tonga Fire Services responded to 26 cases in the wake of TC Gita since February 12th.
The Deputy Fire Commissioner says the incidents included house and bush fires, assisting Police with rescuing victims from the ocean, road accidents and burning of rubbish and wastes.
Sinamoni Kauvaka says compared to the same period last year , the number of cases reported are on the rise.
18 cases were house and bush fires only.
He urges the public to destroy their wastes wisely because burning can cause more damage if precautionary measures are not practiced.
Tonga Fire are working collaboratively with related stakeholders to assist people in the aftermath of Gita.
