The Catholic Church Diocese of Tonga and Niue are paying special attention to those affected by Tropical Cyclone Gita’s devastating visit to Tonga.
Cyclone Gita was one of the main issues of concern during the church’s annual presbyteral council which was conducted this week and concludes today.
The Parish Priest for Ma’ufanga – Father Newcastle Niukapu – says the Bishop invites all the priests from the parishes in the diocese to the council where they discuss main issues of concern for the diocese. And since the country is still recovering from Tropical Cyclone Gita, this was the main issue in discussion during the meeting.
34 Priests from all 14 parishes in the diocese attended this year’s presbyteral council.
