Japan’s Ambassador commissioned projects in Vava’u

The Japanese Ambassador – H.E Tetsuya Ishii commissioned projects in Vava’u last week during his first official visit to the island.

These projects include the commissioning of three recycled vehicles for the Waste Authority’s Office in Kameli.

He also commissioned the Vava’u and Ha’apai rural and remote communities solar electrification project in Pangaimotu and ‘Otea islands.

The project received $4m grant aid  through the renewable energy by Japan made technology.

The project include the installation of 22 solar powered water pumps for 17 villages on ‘Uta Vava’u and 36 solar powered deep freezers in 20 sites in the remote islands for both Vava’u and Ha’apai.

Ishii says with the upcoming Pacific Islands Leaders Meeting in May, he appreciates the collaboration efforts from all the stakeholders for both projects situated in the areas of priority.
