The Friendly Islands Shipping Agency has responded to concerns from the people of Ha’apai over the operations of the MV ‘Otuanga’ofa.
The islanders voiced their dissatisfactions on the MV ‘Otuanga’ofa’s routes during Radio Tonga’s program, because the vessel usually stops by in Ha’apai on its way to Vava’u.
However, the CEO of FISA Mosese Fakatou says, the direct route from Tongatapu to Vava’u was based on the fact that they have a lot of cargo and passengers to the island.
He says, it has been scheduled that the MV. ‘Otuanga’ofa will voyage to Ha’apai weekly because currently, only few passengers and cargo are destined for Ha’apai.
Fakatou also apologizes to the islanders and said that they are not selective with their services but they just wanted to transport all the cargo to Vava’u.
MV.Otuanga’ofa’s second voyage to Vava’u for this week will also take passengers and cargo for Ha’apai.
