Police charged two men for causing bodily harm

Police have charged a 31-year-old man from Lomaiviti and a 21-year-old from Sopu for causing bodily harm.
The Acting Superintendent of the Nuku’alofa Police Station Tevita Vailea said, the suspects were reported to use firearm and a machete to threat a group of boys were consuming alcohol in Sopu, early on Sunday morning.
Vailea says, the two suspects demanded for money and mobile phones.
As a result, two men were injured – a 35-year-old from Hofoa and a 18 year old from Puke.
The 35 years old was treated and discharged from Vaiola hospital while the 18 years is still at the hospital after he sustained head and hand injuries.
Police investigation continues and more charges are expected to be laid soon.
They are under police custody to appear at the Magistrate Court on Monday.
