COSPac 11th Steering Committee Meeting currently underway in Nuku’alofa

Tonga Met Office is looking forward to improving information and analysis of information with the continuation of the Climate and Oceans Support Program in Pacific – COSPac.
The 11th Steering Committee Meeting of COSPac is currently underway here in Nuku’alofa which is also the conclusion of the first phase of the program which started in 2012 and will end next month.
This is also an pre-implementation workshop for COSPac Phase 2, which will be continued for the next 4 years.
The Director of the Tonga Met’s Office – ‘Ofa Fa’anunu says Tonga, along with other Pacific Island nations, benefited from the first phase of the program with technical support as well as many training workshops.
He says these workshops have contributed to many developments in these areas in the Pacific island nations.
In the 2nd Phase of this program, the Tonga Met Office looks forward to a closer cooperation resulting in improved information collection and analysis which will ultimately contribute to the national development.
The COSPac program is funded by the Australian Government.
