Thawed fish removed from Asian Shop in Nuku’alofa
Radio & TV Tonga, Nuku’alofa, 08/05/2018
Health Officials removed close to 20 kilograms of fish from an Asian Shop in Nuku’alofa because it was not fit for consumption.
This follows a complaint from a local restaurant over the weekend.
The Supervising Public Health Inspector – Sela Fa’u says the fish was thawed and was returned to the fridge to be sold BUT it was no longer fit for consumption.
Health officials returned the meat to the Asian Shop and refunded the money to the complainant.
Fa’u strongly urges the public to be more cautious when buying meat from the shops especially this season, because many people are preparing food for church occasion such as annual church conference.
