Two million pa’anga worth of methamphetamine seized at Fua’amotu International Airport

Police arrested a 59-year-old man on Tuesday after seizing 1.9 kilograms of methamphetamine at the Fua’amotu International Airport.

The drugs which have a street value of about $2 million pa’anga, was in the suspect’s possession when he was arrested from inside the departure transit area.

Cash in different currencies with approximate value of $10,000 pa’anga was also seized.

In a statement from Police, the Acting Chief Superintendent of the Nuku’alofa Police Station – Tevita vailea said, the seizure was the outcome close collaboration between the Police Drug Task Force, Customs and Tonga Airport Limited.
