All islands in Tonga are up for the Royal Agricultural Show despite the damage from Cyclone Gita

The CEO of Agriculture has assured that all islands in Tonga will be able to actively participate in the Royal Agricultural Show, this year, despite the impacts from TC Gita.

Dr. Viliami Manu says, following the devastation to the agricultural sector, Tonga experiences a lot of rains which has helped to improve the agricultural sector.

He adds, ‘Eua bore the brunt on its local produce but has assured their participation on the annual event.

The tentative theme for this year’s Royal Agricultural Show is the Tongan proverb – “Kina ‘Umu tali ki tahi” which defines as a good hope for something despite uncertainty of the circumstances.

The estimated cost to host this annual event is at $400 thousand pa’anga.

The island of Ha’apai – will lead this year’s Agricultural Show on June 23rd.
