Youth should be well taught on the negative impacts of littering

Radio & TV Tonga, Nuku’alofa,21/05/2018

Young people should be well taught on the negative impacts of littering to the environment especially from plastic rubbish.

This was the purpose of a cleaning up campaign led by Anglican Church of Fasi moe Afi on Saturday.

A member of the Environment Working Group of All Saints – Losana Tongia says plastic and bottles have caused negative impacts to the environment especially the foreshores.

There’s hope the campaign will leave an important message to  the related stakeholders about the significance of keeping the environment clean and the marine ecosystem free of plastic rubbish.

She also highlights that young people should know more about the harm caused by plastic littering to the marine ecosystem.

More than 30 young people took part in the cleaning campaign which started from Vuna Wharf to Queen Salote Wharf.

This is part of the Anglican Church’s initiative to promote healthy environment for all.
