PALM 8 Leaders expressed strong solidarity with the Pacific in climate change

PALM 8 leaders have conveyed their deepest condolences to all the people who have been affected by recent disasters including Cyclone Gita, Keni and Josie which have affected Tonga and other Pacific islands.
Japan’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs reported that Leaders expressed strong solidarity with all those who are confronting the far-reaching consequences of these extreme weather events.
PALM 8 was hosted in Fukushima Prefecture in Japan. Tonga’s Deputy Prime Minister Semisi Sika represented Tonga to the meeting.
In the address from the Prime Minister of Japan Shinzo Abe during the meeting he says, they are aware that climate change is among the most urgent concerns for the Pacific island nations.
Abe also assured Japan’s cooperation on this issue and the Talanoa Dialogue with Pacific partners will continue.
