More illicit drugs seized from in Tongatapu

The seizure of illicit drugs in Tongatapu is on the rise despite Police’s efforts to stop these illegal activities.

The Acting Chief Superintendent of the Nuku’alofa Police Station – Tevita Vailea says, last week, three people were arrested from the Eastern District with illicit drugs and firearms.

On Monday, a 34 year old man from Lapaha was arrested with two packets of cannabis.

On Wednesday, the investigation continued to his residence with a search warrant and seized three firearms, namely one pistol gun, a shotgun and one rifle.

Police also seized 123 live ammunitions from his residence.

On the same Day, Police arrested a 34 year old from Hoi in the Nuku’alofa area with methamphetamine weight point 47 of a gram.

On Thursday evening, Police arrested a 43 year old woman with two packets of methamphetamine and cash approximately TOP$1300 pa’anga.

The drugs were hidden in a rubbish bag in Lapaha.

All the three suspects are in Police custody while investigations continue.
