Radio & TV Tonga, Nuku’alofa,23/05/2018

Government Primary School of Havelu and Tofoa has organised a long week program to mark the importance of teaching Science to young children.

The school was decorated in green representing the environment.

School children were in their green outfits paraded around the school this morning to show their full support for the Science week.

The school principal – Veiongo Kalaleti emphasizes the importance to teach Science to young children because most of them have experienced the negative impacts of climate change from recent natural disasters in the kingdom.

She says, if young children are well aware of these problems then they will have a fair idea of climate change and the environment and it will make them be more aware of natural disasters.

Meanwhile, two students from the school, Tae Kula and Fetalai Fifita expressed how happy they are to support this program.

The Science week will wrap-up on Friday with the school tree planting program.

GPS Havelu and Tofoa has close to 700 students.
