Civil Aviation training underway in Nuku’alofa

Five-day training on Civil Aviation co-hosted by Tonga and China is currently underway in Nuku’alofa with expectation to build the staff’s capabilities in this area.
The Hon. Deputy Prime Minister – Semisi Sika says, the training will benefit Tonga in many ways.
“Tonga as with the Pacific Islands are heavily depended a lot on tourism for revenue and Civil Aviation plays a huge role and then however consistency changes in the aviations environment affect operation share knowledge to address the aviation safety in the small island state such as Tonga,” Sika said.
Chinese Ambassador to Tonga – H.E Wang Baodong says China is willing and ready to assist Tonga anytime.
“Civil Aviation, China is always ready to work with the Tongan side to enhance cooperation to train more professional talents and to upgrade the capabilities of the Civil Aviation in Tonga. In 2013, 2014 respectively The Chinese Government donated two planes MA60 and Y12 as DPM mentioned, lecturers have visit Tonga to provide support on the Tonga Airworthiness, operations supervision and maintenance.”
The one week training will see the introduction of the Chinese Civil Aviation Management Practice system; enhance Tongan counterpart to establish civil aviation airworthiness system and technical and cultural exchanges.
