Five churches in San Francisco donated relief items to Tonga

A container loaded with food supplies and other relief items were distributed today to the families in Tongatapu that were badly affected from cyclone Gita.

A representative from the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints who are among the team visited Tongatapu to distribute the supplies – Tevita Taumoepeau says this assistance were collected from various churches in San Francisco, America.

“So there may be a sample picture that you have, we have rice, flour, sugar. We have tin fish and some sausages. We also have noodles and water that we’re distributing. Yesterday, the group went to Siesia and Patangata,” he said.

He says some of the relief items were distributed yesterday and the rest will be distributed today.

Taumoepeau says Langi Enterprises shipping company in San Francisco shipped the container to Tonga for free.

Some of the relief items were distributed to Beulah College, Queen Salote College among other places.
