Lord Fakafanua says the Legislative Assembly and the government will address the issues raised by His Majesty

The Speaker of the Legislative Assembly says the Government and the House will address the issues raised by His Majesty during the State opening of Parliament this morning.
In an interview with Radio and Television Tonga, Lord Fakafanua says His Majesty highlighted the importance for the House and the government to address the most desperate needs of those affected by Cyclone Gita, healthy living, education and drugs .
Lord Fakafanua says, these issues will addressed by the House.
He says the first agenda for the House is to look into the reply to His Majesty’s Address from the throne.
A sub -committee has been appointed by the Speaker to draft the reply to His Majesty’s Address. The Speaker of Parliament says the House is expecting the draft of the reply from this sub-committee next Tuesday. The House will approve the reply before they will deliver it to His Majesty.
The Speaker of Parliament says the session is expected to start on the following Wednesday.
He also confirmed that they House has received the petition for the impeachment of several Cabinet Ministers and the Privilege committee is assessing it.
Lord Fakafanua says the Finance and Public Accounts Standing Committee is working on the budget and a report will be presented in Parliament soon.
