Tonga High School marks 71st anniversary

The students, teachers, and ex-students of Tonga High School gathered at the Funga Faa’imata grounds yesterday – June 4th – to celebrate the 71st anniversary of the school.

 

A special program was held yesterday with a sermon delivered by Rev. Dr. Taliai Niumeitolu from the Class of 1969 to mark the day.

 

Hon. Lupepau’u Taione was the guest of honor at the program.

 

Following this, the ex-students held their annual general meeting where they also elected the Ex-students committee for 2018-2019

 

Tongatapu Constituency 3 representative – Siaosi Sovaleni, from class of 1982, was elected president replacing, Hon. Lupepau’u, who was president of the committee from 2017-2018

 

The two vice presidents are – ‘Ana Fotu Kavaefiafi and Tu’ivaitaa Ueleni.

 

Melaia Tu’ipulotu was elected treasurer, with ‘Eleni Tevi from Class of ’82 as assistant treasurer.

 

The committee secretary is Monalisa Palu with Salote Sisifa as Assistant Secretary – both from Class of ’93.

 

The committee members then include – Siosi Mafi from Class of ’75

Satisi Vunipola from Class of ’68

Viliami Fifita from Class of ’82

Salome Po’oi from Class of ’74

And from Class of ’91 – Ana Bing Fonua.

 

Tonga High School was established on June 4th 1947 by the then Crown Prince, His Majesty King Taufa’ahau Tupou IV.
