Tonga is set to make it into the Guinness World Records with the latest world record attempt – the longest birthday celebration.
Last night at 12:00am midnight American MavEryck Stevenson began celebrating his 50th birthday and will be doing so for 47 hours.
He and two friends are in Tonga in an attempt to break the Guinness World Record for the Longest Birthday Celebration.
This afternoon he will travel to New Zealand, and after a short layover, will fly across the International Dateline to Hawai’i arriving there at 7:35 the morning of June 22nd in Hawai’i.
If Stevenson pulls off this amazing feat he would have celebrated his birthday for 47 hours. The previous record set by a German man celebrating his 26th birthday in 2014, was 46 hours. He had started his world record attempt in Auckland, New Zealand, traveling to Australia then to Honolulu.
Stevenson is taking a very similar route but figures if he is to beat this time, he should start where time begins – The Kingdom of Tonga.
