TCFA handed out scholarships for form 4 students

Ten high school students yesterday became the first recipients of the scholarship from Tonga China Friendship Association – TCFA.

This scholarship is for the church schools which are awarded to two form 4 students from each church education school.

The recipients, 10 form 4 students are from various high schools in Tongatapu including, St Andrews High School, Takuilau College, Queen Salote College and other schools.

The scholarships were presented by the honored guests at yesterday’s program, Mr. Chen Tie from the Chinese Embassy, the Tonga Vice Chairman TCFA – Samiu Vaipulu, and the Chinese Vice Chairman – TCFA.

The recipients, each selected by their school principals, were identified as students who excel in their studies but were facing financial difficulties.

The purpose of this scholarship is to ensure these students can reach their full potential in their education.

Under the scholarship, the students school fees for the year 2018 are fully covered their school uniforms, school material and additional fees according to each schools requirement.

The scholarship will also continue throughout their remaining years in high school.

One of the recipients – Paea Folau, a student from St Andrews High School was extremely grateful for this scholarship and said she would do her best to make good use of the opportunity.

The cost of these scholarships is more than $6000 pa’anga funded by the Chinese Government through the Tonga China Friendship Association.
