The Food Division of the Ministry of Agriculture has ordered the removal of some of the imported frozen vegetables because it is not safe for consumption.
Acting CEO of Agriculture – Sione Foliaki says they are only removing the frozen vegetables from Belgium, United Kingdom and Hungary because they are believed to be contaminated.
The reason behind the initiative was due to possible microbial contamination -Listeria monocytogenes.
The national food recall of the lists imported frozen vegetable products include, Bell Farms Steam Veggies Carrot and Broccolli, the Pinquin brand 4 mixed vegetables 1,000g, Black & Gold Corn Kernels 500g, Black & Gold Mixed Vegetables 1kg: Carrots, Peas, Beans, & Corn , Market Fare Peas, Carrots and Super Sweet Corn 1kg and Market Fare Mixed Vegetables 1kg .
The main concern is that these products are already in Tonga and therefore it’s very significant for the people not to consume it.
Foliaki adds that the canned mix vegetables are excluded.
