Kaina Handerson Tauvaka was crowned as the Miss Galaxy 2018

The winner of Miss Galaxy 2018 – Kaina Handerson Tauvaka has urged his fellow LGBTI members never to lose hope when fighting for their rights despite being verbally abused on social media.
Members of the public have used social media to attack the members of LGBTI saying they are a disgrace to the community and the nation.
However, the newly crowned Miss Galaxy said, it’s sad to know that discrimination still exists in the Tonga and at the same time some people could not accept them.
She urged the public to work together to build their community despite the challenges they face daily.
Hon. Fatafehi ‘o Lapaha crowned the Miss Galaxy 2018. Hon. Halaevalu Moheofo Aleamotu’a also present at the program.
The last Competition for the annual event ended with the talent night, creative and innovative outfit among other competitions.
Various entertainment were performed during the program including songs from Tokos for life and 4AM Toukou’s Mio song.
Since the competition started about two week ago, hundreds of people gathered at the Queen Salote memorial hall to support the contestants.
Attending the program the program were former presidents of the Tonga Leiti’s Association including – Joey Mataele, current president of Tonga Leiti’s Association – Polikalepo Kefu, first Miss Galaxy – Vivienne Charlie known as Kuini Kaute Kula and many members of the Leiti’s Association.
