Competition to promote healthy food

The Ministry of Agriculture, Food and Forestry hosted a cooking competition yesterday aiming to promote the use of local produce for cooking.
Five competitors from ‘Ahopanilolo Technical Institute participated in the competition.
The Head of the Food Division of the Ministry Metuisela Falesiva says, the competition is for participants to use local produce because it is healthier.
The participants were judged based on their cooking skills and food preparation.
The menu was divided into two categories including the main dish and the dessert.
Yesterday’s main dish included chicken angelata served with green salad and garlic bread, coconut lime grilled chicken, grilled chicken with coleslaw, grilled Tongan chicken salad with garlic and grilled chicken with tropical salsa.
The traditional dessert included tapioca cake with caramel sauce, fruit salad and others.
The winners of the competition will be announced at the Royal Agricultural Show on Saturday.
The competitors were Sione Iketau, Sione Lefai, Laumanu Uasike, Fakava Noa and Milieli Maile.
