PM in Samoa preparing for the Pacific Islands Forum Summit next month

The Hon Prime Minister is in Samoa for the Pacific Islands Forum Foreign Ministers’ Meeting 2018.
It is the introduction to this year’s 49th Pacific Islands Forum Summit that is scheduled to be held in Nauru next month.
Important agenda to be discussed by the Foreign Ministers include, the ‘Biketawa Plus Declaration’ which will consider the region’s security landscape and to discuss a proposed Leader’s level declaration on regional security cooperation.
It will also include ‘Strengthening the Pacific Islands Forum’s International Engagement and Advocacy, which will draw on the deliberations of the newly established Forum Officials Sub-Committee on PIF Engagement.
It will also update the region’s progress in securing its maritime and boundaries through the Advocacy; and ‘Securing the Pacific’s Maritime Boundaries.
The Foreign Ministers’ Meeting will be led by a series of related Officials Meetings including Smaller Island States (SIS) Officials Meeting, and the Forum Officials Committee Pre-Forum Session.
