The principal and teachers of the Government Primary School of Fasi moe Afi ‘a Tungi have taken a preventative measure to protect the students’ lives from any harm that can occur when returning home during lunch hour.
The school’s principal – Pomana Hui says, the students are now required to remain inside the school’s compound from 8:30 in the morning until 3: 20 in the afternoon.
The students are only allowed to go home or leave the school compound if the parents or guardians are there.
Hui says, one of the local schools have recorded adults using students to distribute illegal substances.
She adds the initiative is to help protect the students’ lives and to ensure they are safe at all times.
It was implemented about two weeks ago, and positive outcomes have been recorded.
Students are more punctual to attend school activities and the cooperation between the teachers and parents are closer.
More than 500 students are studying at GPS Fasi moe Afi ‘a Tungi with 17 teachers.
