National Climate Change Week to be marked with various programs

The Minister for the Ministry of MEIDECC – Hon. Poasi Tei officially opened a Discussion this morning to mark the National Climate Change Awareness Week.
A prayer service was held yesterday at the Centenary Church in Nuku’alofa to mark the long week program with the theme: Climate Change is real.
This morning’s program included a discussion on the progress of the completed projects facilitated by the Climate Change Department and also the projects that are not yet complete.
The director of the Climate Change Department – Lu’isa Malolo says, climate change issue needed to be discussed among the people at all level especially students, in order to have fair idea of its negative impacts.
The program includes tree planting program and costume competitions for Government primary schools.
Malolo urges the related stakeholders to cooperate to minimize the negative impacts of climate change.
The National Climate Change Awareness Week will conclude on Friday with the launching of the second phase of the Tonga Joint National Action – JNAP2.
