Police charged a 28 year old man for assaulting a police officer

Police have charged a 28-year-old male from Kolonga for causing serious bodily harm and obstruction of justice.
This was after he attacked an on-duty police officer with a machete – where the senior constable sustained major head injury.
The incident happened while the injured-police officer was responding to a complaint from a family in Hofoa last week.
The officer was unarmed when he responded to the complaint.
Information from the Ministry of Police states, the officer is still in a critical condition at Vaiola. The accused is still under police custody while investigation continues.
