No Plastic Campaign launched

Hon. Fatafehi ‘o Lapaha Filipe and New Zealand High Commissioner to Tonga launched the Anglican Church’s ‘No Plastic’ campaign aimed to promote the use of local products such as coconut leaves’ basket
The facilitator of the ‘No Plastic’ campaign – ‘Eleni Tevi says the aimed of the program is to ban plastic bags because of its impacts to the environment.
Meanwhile, a workshop is currently underway known as Climate Integrated Vulnerability Assessment – CIVA aimed to uplift the youths’ knowledge on ways to combat the negative effects of climate change because they are future leaders of the country.
The workshop brings together youths of the Diocese of Polynesia including representatives from Fiji, New Zealand, Samoa and Tonga in partnership with the University of the South Pacific.
One of the trainers of the workshop – Viliami Folau says this workshop is mainly focus on the youths in order to have the ability to fight against the negative effects of climate change.
The workshop – CIVA will end Thursday.
