Women and Children Crisis Centre last week hosted a one-week workshop for police officers new recruit.

28 certificates were presented to the officers who have completed the training on domestic violence, gender equality among other issues.

The Staff Team Leader & Community Educator from the Centre – Lesila To’ia says, the purpose of the workshop is to strengthen the participants’ knowledge on these issues.

She adds, the workshop is important because police officers are the ones who deal with victims of domestic violence when they complain to the police.

Meanwhile, a participant Sione Vaingina says he has learned more about gender equality and the importance to respect human rights.
