‘Eua MP – Tevita Lavemaau has raised his concern about the current status of the Taufa’ahau Tupou IV wharf.
He said that the wharf was commissioned few months ago and it should be available now for the public to use especially for the people from the outer islands.
He added those in the outer islands are facing many challenges with their travels between Tongatapu and their islands and the interisland ferries have recorded damage due to the current situation at the domestic wharf.
The Deputy Prime Minister responded that they are now completing paper work and the wharf will be soon available for the public. The new wharf was funded by the Government of Japan at a cost of more than 66 million pa’anga.
It was commissioned by His Majesty King Tupou VI on June 1st earlier this year.
