The Catholic Church at Veitongo last week celebrated the completion of the renovations work of their church hall – the Fr. Mateo Lui Hall.
The Chair of the Construction Committee – Talanoa Hafoka says the hall had been built in the 1960’s and was very old.
He says the renovations included the roof, the verandah, plumbing, and the electricity, which the main part of the building was kept while everything else was renewed.
The works began on June 12th, and took almost 4 months and with the completion of the renovations the total cost stood at more than 185,000 pa’anga.
Hafoka acknowledged the kind assistance of the church from New Zealand, who sent construction equipment over to help.
The building is named after one of the priests who worked at the parish.
