NTT’s Likamonu Hospital commissioned by King Tupou VI

His Majesty King Tupou VI officially commissioned Niuatoputapu’s – Likamonu hospital after relocation and reconstruction of the hospital following the devastation from the tsunami in 2009.
The Government Representative – Feinga ‘Iloa says the project was funded by the European Union – EU at a cost of more than 3.5 million pa’anga.
Since 2009, the people of Niuatoputapu have been using a classroom at GPS Falehau as a temporary hospital to cater for the people’s medical treatments.
Prior to the commissioning of the hospital, the people welcomed His Majesty with a prayer service at the Royal Residence in Hihifo with the traditional presentation – ha’unga led by talking chiefs. Attending the program were the Minister of Health and Government Officials.
