The programs to mark Law Week 2018 continued this morning with an Open Day exhibition held in downtown Nuku’alofa
The Open Day was held at the Digicel Square and was attended by several school children from government primary schools around the country.
In his address, the minister for MEIDECC – Poasi Tei expressed his wish that the children in attendance at this mornings program, would find the exhibitions educational, and help them make wise decisions regarding law and cyberspace in the future.
Tei also highlighted some of the challenges to law and cyberspace that have already been seen in Tonga, such as an increase in cybercrime. Tei advised the children and everyone at this mornings program, to be more wary when using the cyberspace as it provides many benefits for the country but there are still those who seek to use it for their criminal activities.
This mornings Open Day program, saw many government ministries, organisations, and related stakeholders in both Law and Cyberspace set up displays about their operations for the people to learn more about how they work in law and cyberspace related issues.
Meanwhile the other programs to mark Law Week 2018 are continuing as well, with yesterday’s radio talk-back program proving a success. The Acting Attorney General had elaborated on the theme of the law week – The Law and Cyberspace, and highlighted key issues that Tonga faces in regard to this.
