Gender Policy Validation workshop underway in Nuku’alofa

The Ministry of Internal Affairs is hosting a gender policy validation workshop today in Nuku’alofa
Polotu Paunga from the Womens Division of the Ministry of Internal Affairs, says this workshop is a review of the national gender and development policy 2014-2018 and the planning of the continuation of the policy for 2019-2025.
There are 6 main issues the policy focuses on; social and working environment, economy, leadership roles, climate change and disaster risk reduction, people living with disabilities, and government services.
Attending this one day workshop are representatives from various government ministries, organisation, related stakeholders and partners in this agenda of promoting gender equality, where they will be sharing evaluations on the policy to address the different issues in different areas of gender equality in the country.
The workshop is facilitated by Carol Nelson – a Pacific Gender Adviser from the Pacific Women Shaping Pacific Development (an initiative of the Australian government), and Kim Robertson – a Gender Statistics Specialist from the Pacific Community (SPC).
