Newly appointed ambassadors and high Commissioner present credentials to the King

During the Diplomatic Week for the second half of the year, several newly appointed Ambassadors and a High Commissioner to Tonga are presenting their credentials to His Majesty King Tupou VI at the Royal Palace in Nuku’alofa. With their presentation of their credentials to His Majesty, this marks the beginning of their ambassadorship.

The nine heads of mission include presenting their letters of credence to His Majesty this week include;

H.E Mr. Fernando Curcio Ruigómez – Ambassador of Spain

H.E Ms. Mira Simone Weldberg – Ambassador of the Netherlands

H.E Mr. Andres Unga -Ambassador of Estonia

H.E Mr. Lars Backström – Ambassador of Finland

H.E Dr. Abdul Malik – High Commissioner of Pakistan

H.E Mr. Sujiro Seam  – Ambassador of France

H.E Mr. Georgii Zuey – Ambassador of the Russian Federation

H.E Mr. Rodrigo Espinosa – Ambassador of Chile

H.E Mr. Seung-bae Yeo. – Ambassador of the Republic of Korea

All the ambassadors are based in Wellington, New Zealand, except for the French Ambassador, who is based in Suva, Fiji, and the Pakistani High Commissioner is based in Canberra, Australia. While in Tonga, they also meet with the Prime Minister – ‘Akilisi Pohiva, and the Secretary for Foreign Affairs – Mahe ‘Uli’uli Tupouniua.
