New Classrooms for students of St. Francis of Assisi

The Bishop of the Roman Catholic Church Diocese of Tonga and Niue His Eminence Cardinal Mafi and Japan’s Ambassador to Tonga marked the completion of the GGP Project for Upgrading St. Francis of Assisi Primary School this morning.
The project was funded by Japan’s Government which was worth around 100 thousand pa’anga.
The Principal of the school – Monsignor Lutoviko Finau says the new building will cater for more than 30 students, particularly class 5 and class 6 students.
Meanwhile, Japan’s Ambassador to Tonga – H.E. Tetsuya Ishii expressed how happy he was to take part in this program and how Japan is always willing to help schools in need.
St Francis of Asisi primary school is well-known for excelling in the Soroban competitions every year and Tetsuya looks forward to hearing from them again at the National Soroban Competition, which will be held in March next year.
Various cultural dances were performed by the students to show their appreciation for the kind assistance from Japan.
401 students are currently enrolled at St Francis of Asisi Primary School.
