Radio & TV Tonga, Nuku’alofa, 13/11/2018
The Youth Parliament’s Prime Minister – ‘Aulola ‘Ake believes that the issues discussed during the Youth Parliament should be disused in the actual Parliament deliberations.
‘Ake says with the Speaker of Parliament – Lord Fakafanua present at the deliberations it gives them hope because their concerns raised during the Youth Parliament are heard by leaders.
Since the Youth Parliament started yesterday, the appointed youth MPs debated on the bill on Prohibition of Single use plastics 2018 and for the government to improve their services towards people living with disabilities especially in Public areas.
‘Ake on her capacity as the Youth Parliament’s Prime Minister told the house that concerns are noted but the Government has to operate within its financial abilities.
Also part of yesterday’s debate was a petition for the Government to ban social media because of its negative impacts towards youth such as cyber bullying.
This morning deliberations continued on ways to ban illicit drugs in Tonga.
This is the first Youth Parliament following the Political reformation in 2010.
