Radio & TV Tonga, Nuku’alofa, 19/11/2018

The Tae Kami Foundation this week mark their 10th anniversary, with several programs organized along with fundraisers for the foundation.

Sina Kami from the Foundation says despite the celebrations beginning only this week, they have already received multiple donations from partner’s organizations and other sponsors. Kami says they have received pledges of donations from the Ambassador of the United Arab Emirates to Tonga, as well as donations from the High Commissioner of India to Tonga in Fiji.

The programs for this week are mainly focused on assisting the Children’s Ward at the Vaiola Hospital where the Tae Kami Foundation are donating new equipment. Then on Friday for a fundraiser, Tofiga Fepulea’i – formerly of the Laughing Samoans, will be performing at the Queen Salote College Hall.

On Saturday will be the Walk On, Walk Strong – WOWS Walk, followed by the Shave or Save fundraiser with a performance by the WOWS Choir which is open for all children to join. Then the 10th anniversary celebrations will conclude on Sunday with a prayer service held at Tupou College.

Sina says the finalization of all the funds raised and donations made to the foundation over the week will be announced early next week.

The Tae Kami Foundation was founded by parents, Taholo and Sina Kami, whose daughter had battled with cancer for three years before she passed away in 2008. The Tae Kami Foundation and the WOWS Movement is the vision left behind by Tae to continue providing assistance for children who are battling cancer.
