White ribbon day marked in Vava’u

Primary and Secondary school students in Neiafu Vava’u marked White Ribbon Day today with the theme to raise awareness of violence against women and girls.

The program started with Tonga Police leading a marching parade from the police station in Neiafu to Puataukanave.

A Spokesperson for Police encouraged students to report any form of violence at home to the nearest police station or to the town and district officer for immediate assistance.

Part of today’s program was prize giving awards to students with the most outstanding banners written about ending domestic violence.

Attended as at the guest of honor was the Police Commissioner – Stephen Caldwell.
