The Chairman of TCC’s Board of Directors – Tapu Panuve yesterday presented to the Minister of Public Enterprises Dr. Saia Piukala, the company’s dividend of 2hundrend and 6thousand pa’anga.
During the annual general meeting of the company yesterday the executives approved the amount of dividend to be taken from the company’s profit for the 2017/2018 financial year.
Speaking to Radio Tonga News this morning – the CEO – Timote Katoanga said, they are happy to announce the turnaround in the performance of the company resulting in a profit of 1.7 million pa’anga for the 2017/2018 financial year compared to a loss of 1.8 million pa’anga that was recorded from the year before.
Katoanga added despite the challenges faced throughout the financial year which include cyclone Gita’s visit early this year – they are happy to still witness the support from the public.
He adds, when Gita struck it caused losses of 1.2 million pa’anga in revenues and further damaged assets worth 1.7 mllion. Not only that during and after cyclone Gita, TCC made available free data, free SMS and reduced call rates to all subscribers to keep them touch with loved ones – it resulted at a further cost of 1million pa’anga to the company.
