With the recent spotlight being shone on the drugs problem, highlighting several gaps in the nation’s addressing of this issue, leaders have urged the people to stand together and resolve these issues as quickly as possible to lessen the negative impacts.
In an interview with the Area Seventy of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints, Elder ‘Aisake Tukuafu said teaching the true doctrines can help change people’s lifestyles.
He then highlighted the words of the apostle Paul – that the body is a temple of God and should be kept pure. The use of drugs is damaging to the body, and Elder Tukuafu emphasized that this would have impacts on a persons mental and spiritual state, thus compromising their well-being.
The church leader advised parents to spend more time with their children individually, to empower them to withstand the challenges that this country is currently facing.
Elder Tukuafu also urged all the people, every Tongan man and woman, to work together to combat this issue that is threatening the country now, as this is the only way they can save the youths of today from more drug related problems in the future.
