Tonga National Rugby League held its annual general meeting this morning where they were to elect new members of its board. However this morning’s meeting was approved to postpone the meeting to a later date – when they confirm the right candidates to be elected to the board.
The election of new board members follows Hon. Justice Niu’s ruling on the 12th of November to disolve the Tonga National Rugby league board after the chairman and vice chairman were found guilty of misconduct.
The ruling follows a civil case between the plaintiffs Silivenusi Taumoepeau, Evona Latu, Suiti Lilani Alatini, Siona Tu’akalau and the defendants Semisi Sika, Stan Moheloa and the Tonga National Rugby league incorporated Society.
Meanwhile the board members of the previous board dissolved by the Court has appealed on the ruling.
This morning’s meeting was chaired by the Attorney General – ‘Aminiasi Kefu and was attended by members from the15 rugby league clubs here in Tonga.
