Road Maintenance project begins in Fasi

Ministry of Infrastructure has begun their road maintenance project, starting yesterday with the roads in Fasi.
Workers from the ministry repaired one of the worst roads in the village, the Tahi Leka road, which had long been overdue for repair.
Speaking to Radio Tonga News this morning, Tongatapu 3 representative to Parliament – Siaosi Sovaleni says the Tongatapu 3 Council had requested this assistance from the government to repair the roads as it was one of the major concerns for the constituents raised during the parliamentary visits last year.
HOWEVER this road maintenance only covers filling potholes and leveling out the roads, but it does not include a chipseal layer as the proper finishing, so there is concern from the locals that this is only a temporary fix. The Tongatapu 3 MP is hoping that a chipseal layer could be added soon to ensure the road maintenance would last.
Meanwhile, the town officer of Kolofo’ou – Vailoa Kavaliku says the residents along this road are extremely grateful as the road has caused various problems for them in regard to their vehicles being damaged by the potholes and flooding due to the state of the road.
This project is set to continue to the roads in Pili and the Ha’amoko area.
