Public Health Division remove expired food items from shops

The Public Health Division of the Ministry of Health again removed expired food items from the shops in the Nuku’alofa area last month.
Most of the expired food items were junk food and soft drinks.
The Supervising Public Health Inspector Sela Fa’u says expired food items were also removed from the shelves in the retail shops in the Eastern and Western District.
Fa’u is reminding the public to be more cautious when purchasing food items as many shops in Tonga are still selling expired food items.
She also warns the retailers to ensure their food items on sale are not expired because they can be fined or even up to losing their business license.
