Queen highlights significance of World Expo for Tonga

Her Majesty Queen Nanasipau’u has highlighted the importance for Tonga to participate at the World Expo in Dubai from October 2020 to April 2021.
Speaking in a televised program on Television Tonga – Her Majesty said, this is a good opportunity to advertise Tonga -not only through its traditional and cultural beauties but it’s also a good opportunity for local businesses.
The Queen added, People who will visit Tonga’s pavilion in Dubai will be interested in the country’s history, culture and tradition, areas in which Tonga are unique and somehow different from other Pacific Island Countries, as it has a king, as well as Tonga’s exceptional history of not being colonized by another country.
Queen Nanasipau’u added these will attract the people that will be at the expo.
However, with the commercial products, skills are required from initial advertisements, and explanations on how products are made and raw materials use, up to the end products being ready to be sold.
Queen Nanasipau’u said, His Majesty King Tupou VI, wishes that 2 sectors of the society – youth and people at the grassroots level, should be the basic beneficiaries from the expo with the knowledge they are the future of our nation and this is the height of their energy and power to work and build our nation.
The committee is looking at hosting a program in April so they can bring in those that are interested, with their products, and from there they can be sure of what products and values they will select for Tonga’s pavilion.
The committee’s working together with various local businesses, spouses of nobles and hopes that our people from the outer islands will also participate.
The theme for the Expo 2020 is “connecting minds – creating the future”.
