MPs are yet to agree on a decision regarding the Petition from the ex-students of Tonga College, criticizing the
Government on leasing part of the Tonga College’s land to the National Football Association.
This is the second petition for the year and the speaker ruled that the issue be referred to the whole house committee for deliberation and work out possible solution.
Vava’u 15 MP Samiu Vaipulu told the house the issue should be returned to the Government for review and consult related stakeholders such as FIFA about the land deed.
However, Vava’u number one noble’s representative, Lord Tu’ilapeka queried, that the Government should’ve carried out these discussions before leasing the land.
When the house resumed for the afternoon session, there was no quorum as most of the parliamentarians were still at a function hosted by the cruise liner -Celebrity Solstice which was at Nuku’alofa harbour today.
