It is important to ensure students eat healthy and balanced foods to assure they are being fed well in school.
That is the purpose of an assistance programme provided by Tuaileva Tui’asoa and his family for students of GPS Ha’alalo that do not have breakfast in the morning.
Tuaileva Tui’asoa says the reason for this assistance is to prepare children of today physically for the future as he believes that being fed well in school will help them be more active and alert in the classroom.
Not only that, but it’s a way of giving back to the community and the school they were once in.
Salesi Sime, a teacher says the assistance has been helpful since the beginning of the year because more students are more active and ready for class instructions.
A father of two kids at the school, ‘Oto Tu’itupou says he’s grateful for Tui’asoa and his family for shouldering the responsibility to feed these kids because most of the parents are away during lunch time and therefore their kids are not fed during school lunch.
Meanwhile, Nienlin Chi and Kaneisoni Mafi of the school expressed how happy they are for the assistance as they are more active at the instructions from their teachers.
There are currently 161 students studying at GPS Ha’alalo and they will benefit from this assistance once every month for the whole year.
